Dan and Jess’ journey to parenthood
30 Jul 2026
Like many couples, Dan and Jess dreamed of growing their family. During their fertility investigations, they received the news that Dan had azoospermia, meaning that no sperm were present in his semen. It was a diagnosis that brought many emotions, difficult conversations, and important decisions about the future.
After taking the time to process the news together, Dan and Jess chose to continue their journey through donor sperm treatment. While it wasn’t the path they had originally planned, it became the path that led them to their greatest joy, their precious son, Jonah.
Looking back, they recognise that fertility treatment is about so much more than the medical side of things. One of the biggest lessons they learned was the importance of looking after their mental wellbeing. Fertility can place enormous emotional pressure on both partners, and taking the time to support one another, communicate openly, and care for themselves individually became just as important as the treatment itself.
Their story also helps shine a light on male factor infertility, which remains a topic that is often misunderstood and not spoken about enough. By sharing their experience, Dan and Jess hope to encourage more open conversations, reduce stigma, and reassure others that there are many different paths to parenthood.
Today, they are proud parents to Jonah, and we’re incredibly grateful that they’ve chosen to share their story in the hope that it will bring comfort, encouragement, and hope to others facing similar challenges.
Thank you, Dan and Jess, for your honesty, openness, and willingness to help others by sharing your journey. 💙
